The Jolt gene is a co-dominant gene closely related to the Black Pastel introduced by
Outback Reptiles. Very little has been done with this gene, as it is fairly new to the Ball
Python world. Probably the most dramatic example of what this gene can do is evident in
the Whiplash morph. A cross between Black Pastel and Jolt. The Whiplash python has a
black body with a light cream dorsal stripe.
As you can see from the photos below, the Pied Jolt baby has bright orange markings
lacking the dark edges often found in normal Pieds. We are also discovering that, like the
Black Pastel, babies carrying the single gene for Pied will often have the 'Ringer' coloration
near the tale.
