Light
Complex Paphiopedilum orchids are considered intermediate light orchids and do best if grown in bright indirect light with some direct sunlight in the early morning or late afternoon. Give them as much light as possible being careful not to burn the leaves in the afternoon sun.
Temperature
Bulldog Paphs are also cool growers and appreciate cool night temperatures in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Our greenhouse gets down to the low 50Fs without any problem from our Paphs.
Water
These lady slipper orchids grow are considered terrestrial (growing in the ground) orchids, but require an open bark mix so their roots get lots of air flow. Our General - All Purpose orchid mix works best for these plants. As a terrestrial orchid they must maintain moisture around their roots and not allowed to dry. Frequent watering with clean fresh mix is important for a happy healthy plant.
Fertilizers and Supplements
BPaphiopedilums are not heavy feeders and require only light fertilizing to maintain good growth.
